About Dennis Kobray, a nationally renowned performer in school shows.
Born in Brooklyn, New York into a musical family, Mr. Kobray began
piano lessons at age five. His early studies were with a Julliard-trained
teacher. He attended Brooklyn College where he co-majored in music
and history. He continued his education at Southern Methodist University
in Dallas, Texas, where he was awarded a prestigious full scholarship.
Prior to the creation of Meet the Musicians in 1986, Mr. Kobray
was a music teacher and gave private piano lessons. Meet the Musicians has been the recipient of several grants from Commissions of the Arts, and Mr. Kobray is a much sought after school shows performer with state and regional arts councils throughout the Northeast. He has appeared on NBC's Today Show and National Public Radio, as well as with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. His programs, now available on both VHS and DVD, have been recognized with top honors by the Coalition for Quality in Children's Media.
He is a skilled actor, gifted and delightful musician, who enjoys the challenge and opportunity of acquainting audiences of all ages with the real life stories of some of history's greatest musicians. His school shows are of such a high quality that manyschools invite him back annually, providing an opportunity for their students to "meet" many of the world's most famous and beloved musicians.
Mr. Kobray is married to Gale, who serves as business manager for Meet the Musicians. Their daughter and son are fine musicians in their own right.
